Audio Watching

This sculpture works like an audio- surveillance camera. This object belongs to the installation "What would Ted Kaczynksi´s daughter do...?".

The apparatus constantly rotates and, via a lens, takes in the light reflected by its surroundings.

The lens is focused and the light’s values are amplified and made audible by a sensor corresponding to a pixel.

Any change in the surroundings in the form of changes in its lighting are thus registered as acoustic changes. This functions like an acoustic surveillance camera.

Modified acoustic signals can deliver information about changes in the surroundings and be categorized on the basis of their relevance without thereby disturbing the other cognitive processes. Thus, through the use of this machine, a tall person approaching is easy to differentiate acoustically from the approach of a small one.
